Taiwanese calligraphy emphasises precision and detail, drawing from the island nation’s rich tapestry of indigenous cultures and outside influences. The tools, while reminiscent of those in other East Asian traditions, have specific characteristics tailored to the island's own practices: the brushes, often softer and more delicate, the rice or mulberry paper chosen for its absorbency, and the ink which is meticulously ground and mixed for the right consistency.

In modern times, Taiwanese calligraphy has found renewed appreciation, with artists like Yi Ling Lai leading the charge. By blending the ancient with the contemporary, they've been able to bring this traditional art form to new audiences worldwide, ensuring its continuation and relevance in today's fast-paced world.
